Description
Painting "Absinthe" was created within the last ten years, during a period in which the artist occasionally left his works undated.
A beautiful woman stages a visual play of seduction and distance, in which absinthe acts as a symbol of risk, desire, and forbidden allure.
The work is signed and bears the title on the reverse. Dimensions including the light-coloured frame: 63 × 83 cm. The colour palette, atypical for the artist, is intentionally derived from the tone of the hat, which defines the character of the entire composition.
Presented at the jubilee exhibition ELEGANCE at the New Town Hall in Prague (2026), organized on the occasion of Jan Rapin's 70th birthday.
